Abstract

This study aims to analyze the paradigm of Islamic education from the perspective of Zakiah Darajat and its relevance to contemporary education. This research is motivated by various problems in modern education, such as moral degradation, character crisis, secularization of education, and the increasing issues of mental and spiritual health among students. In this context, Zakiah Daradjat’s educational thought is considered highly significant because it positions Islamic education as a holistic process of human development encompassing intellectual, emotional, moral, spiritual, and mental health dimensions. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method through library research. The primary data sources are derived from the works of Zakiah Darajat, including Ilmu Pendidikan Islam, Kesehatan Mental, Ilmu Jiwa Agama, and Peranan Agama dalam Kesehatan Mental. Secondary data sources consist of books, academic journals, articles, and previous studies relevant to the research topic. The data analysis techniques include data reduction, conceptual categorization, content analysis, philosophical interpretation, and synthesis in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of Zakiah Daradjat’s Islamic educational paradigm. The findings of this study reveal that the Islamic educational paradigm from the perspective of Zakiah Darajat emphasizes the integration of intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and moral education in the formation of human personality. According to her, Islamic education is not merely aimed at transferring knowledge but also at fostering morality, mental health, and spirituality in students in order to create individuals who are balanced between worldly and spiritual needs. Zakiah Daradjat’s thought is highly relevant to contemporary education because it offers an alternative paradigm for addressing moral crises, the secularization of education, and mental health problems in the modern era. Furthermore, the implementation of Islamic educational values from Zakiah Daradjat’s perspective can be realized through strengthening character education, integrating education with mental health, fostering spirituality, and developing humanistic and value-based Islamic education.
